Resistance 3 Review
Author: Roland
As your standing over the dead body of Nathan Hale, the former main character you play as in Resistance 1 and 2, you realize what you have actually done. You have just killed Nathan, who is the last hope for humanity due being infected with the Chimera virus throughout the fist two games. Now you must assume his responsibilities and save the human race from the advancing chimera. However in this adventure you are not alone. This is where the journey begins in Resistance 3.
The Resistance series started back in 2006 when Resistance: Fall of Man was released worldwide. The game is set in 1953 with you playing as Sgt. Nathan Hale. A new parasitic alien species known as the Chimera, which can also infect humans. Soon Nathan is infected but finds that he does not slip into a coma much as normal people would, but he has changed. He has increased strength, limited regeneration, and Gold irises somewhat resembling the Chimera. Hale continues on his mission, and is presumed to be killed by an explosion. But in a final chapter it shows Hale walking through the snow armed with a single grenade, Hale comes across a unique squad of soldiers and lets them take him back to their base.

Shooting through mobs of enemies is fun, but when you’re shooting them with futuristic weapons it’s even better, in my opinion. In this game you have the ability to do just that and it isn’t just a “Press Triangle to Win” type of game, it’s a game that you need to put effort into, in order to really enjoy it.

With this game releasing in 2011, Insomniac Games has really taking its graphic engine to the next level. With all the real like qualities of this game, it is truly amazing. however I did see a few glitches in the games graphics. There are some things in the quality where it reverts to not so great quality. There are also moments in the game that will transform its quality and it will drop well below what you would wish to see in a game like this. Sadly the game had a bit of frame rate issues, but lucky this only happened rarely.
While I was fighting my way through the game I really took notice to the depth, and the verity of the in game music within the game. Resistance 3 does what a lot of other developers will miss in regards to the soundtrack. As for audio quality, there is nothing to be said, this games audio is one of the best I have heard.

The gameplay mechanics really make the game feel as if you’re actually in the combat yourself, and this one’s does a very good job at it. You really get a good sense that you are Joe Capelli and happen to be leading your squad into battle. But, as every game normally has, there are moments where the game falls out of its own course and slowly drifts back in.

Now it’s time to spray our way through a mass of enemies and into the final verdict on this games overall playability. Now as I have said this games audio quality is absolutely amazing, but does have some bugs that can be worked out. The graphics do have a few issues, but other than that they are pretty solid. As for the gameplay, there is almost nothing to be said besides some rough textures and poor frame rate in a few spots throughout the game.
Final Score: 8.7 out of 10
